About

My doctoral research examines the links between the Indian princely states and the world in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It focuses on the travels of rulers such as Sayaji Rao III of Baroda to Europe and other parts of the world, where their presence both threatened and bolstered the political, social and racial orders that underpinned British rule in India. I also have an interest in how these orders were maintained within the British community living in India through social and domestic practices.
