About

Nicole Janz is a PhD candidate at the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS). Her research focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and human rights. She is especially interested in the impact of CSR strategies of multinational companies on the protection of human rights in weak states.

Academic and professional background

Nicole has a Magistra Artium degree in North American Studies and History from the Free University of Berlin (2008). In 2005/2006 she focused on human rights at Columbia University. During her undergraduate years she was a member of the university’s Amnesty International group where she was responsible for organizing lectures and talks on human rights issues. Nicole has also received training as a journalist at the Berlin School of Journalism (2002) and worked as a political reporter in Berlin with a focus on women’s rights.
