About
A one-time broadcasting & advertising suit, I traded a life of doing media work with a life of critiquing (and appreciating) our media. My Phd reflects on how our media construct various narratives about suffering others and how in turn audiences think, feel and act towards news about tragedy, poverty, and disasters. Through an ethnography of media consumption in the Philippines, a culture of 'everyday' suffering, I wish to dialogue with the philosophical debates on media ethics and cosmopolitanism.
