Post-Doc, French
About
I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2006 in the Department of French, focusing on on how visual media can be socially significant. I taught for the French Department at Cambridge since the first year of my doctoral studies (2002- onwards).
After completing my doctorate I was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship at Cambridge (through competitive selection). During this time I published articles in academic journals and books, undertook teaching responsibilities at both Cambridge and the University of Nottingham, and completed a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies in Washington, DC. I have completed a book project on genocide and media practices entitled France, Film, and the Holocaust (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2012).
In India, I undertook some lecturing responsibilities in New Delhi at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and at Jawaharlal Nehru University. I then joined the Alliance française de Delhi as the Head of Cultural Affairs and Communication (July 2010-May 2011) which involved conceptualizing, implementing and managing programmes and activities for the Alliance française; recruiting, training and supervising a team of 5 people including international employees; formulating and negotiating media and business development strategies for the institution. I continue to write articles for mainstream and academic publications. Presently, I am managing a project for the BBC World Service Trust that brings together my research interests and professional expertise in media strategies for development.
