About

Part of my family is originally from Odessa but, as the oldest of four siblings, I grew up between Milan and Lake Como, in Italy. I graduated in 2007 from the ‘Università degli Studi di Milano’ with a MA thesis on Dante and his sources supervised by Prof. Violetta de Angelis. During my university education I spent two years researching medieval culture and philosophy and European identity at the ‘École pratique des hautes études’ and the ‘Collège de France’ with Prof. Carlo Ossola. In 2004 I co-founded ‘Esperimenti Danteschi’, an international course in Dante studies that saw its sixth gathering in spring 2010. Throughout my research in Milan, Paris and London I have been investigating the sources of the Commedia and now I intend to focus on the relationship between the poet and the cultural traditions of Alexander the Great. In my research I aim also to investigate and shed light on the relationship between Mediterranean Western and Eastern cultures.

More generally, I am interested in the history and global perspectives of European cultural identity, especially within academia. I enjoy reading, cooking, drawing, and lively conversation over a bottle of red wine from Tuscany or Bordeaux.
